Chances are pretty good that you know all about sending claims through a clearinghouse. But did you know that many payers can accept your claim electronically but not through a clearinghouse? A clearinghouse can be prohibitively expensive for plans with less than 100,000 covered lives.

So how can you submit claims electronically to payers that don't use a clearinghouse? It's easier than you think!

Member cards that follow the Datagrove plan id convention will appear as:

When you look up this plan id at planid.com, you will give specific directions for filing your claim. Typically this will be as simple as uploading your claim through a web page or attaching the claim file to an email. Each payer is allowed to set their own methods for securely processing your claim, but unlike clearinghouses you will not be charged for submitting your claim directly to the payer.
